Kindergarten Valentine Party.

Grace's party was very low key.
And fast.
Man, it seemed like it was over before it started.

But they were all so happy.
It doesn't take much for five and six year olds.

Before their treats, they did a little dance they had been practicing.

Here they are, all lined up, anxiously waiting...

Girls on one side, all in their best pink.
Grace in her new Valentine's dress, with heart pin she and I made together.

Grace got to dance with her best bud, Harrison.

After the dance, they all got ice cream and cupcakes.

"Who wants ice cream?"
"I do please."
{I will sit and wait patiently and quietly with my hand raised nicely, while my mom picks her jaw up off the floor}

Then opened their Valentines.
They all had such good manners.
The next several minutes were filled with thank you's.
"Thank you, Grace."
"Thank you, Carson."
"Thank you, Cole."
On and on.
It was really very cute.

All too soon, it was time to clean up, stuff themselves back into all their snow clothes + go on home.
Oh yeah, there's nothing to document it, but Frankie was the one with the chocolate ice cream face, up in the loft, harassing the kids while they got dressed and tried to follow directions.
That kid.

It's a good thing he's cute
(and looks good in chocolate)

like tonight when I was reading to them before bedtime.
I look up at my two beautiful kids, squeaky clean from the bath with still damp hair
and notice....
a slightly brown mustache around Frankie's mouth.
{mind flashes to seeing Nutella jar in Frankie's room (AGAIN!) making the mental note to grab that after finishing whatever I was finishing...}
I forgot to grab it.

I say, "Frankie, did you eat chocolate?"
Frankie: "No." Poker face.
me: not so poker face, "Frankie... let me smell your mouth."
this apparently was the funniest thing I have ever said.
I start laughing, as I'm grabbing his chubby cheeks and Frankie is falling out of the bed laughing and then Grace starts laughing because she just can't help herself.
I finally get close enough to have my suspicions confirmed.
me: (while laughing) "YOU SMELL LIKE NUTELLA! Did you eat Nutella???"
Frankie: (laughing so hard, he's turning purple) "YES!!!"
me: exasperated, "Frankie!!!"

more laughing.

me: "No more taking the Nutella jar to your room, okay Buddy?!"
Frankie: "Okay, Mommy. I love you."

I promise, I don't make this stuff up.

Homework Box.

Part of my new night time plan included making the homework part of the night easier and less stressful.
I was tired of having to search for a pencil, possibly a pencil sharpener and any other supplies we might need.

So I grabbed one of our little boxes that wasn't being used at the moment + made a Homework Box.
I gathered up a bunch of supplies we've needed in the past to complete homework projects.
Then I instructed that the stuff in this box is ONLY FOR HOMEWORK.
So far it's worked.
And it's been so great!
Everything is right in there, easy to access, no searching required.
If you have homework to do, I highly recommend one.

Supplies:
Pencil Box
Bottle of glue
Fresh box of crayons (washable, of course!)
Safety scissors
Pencils
Pencil sharpener
Glue stick
Dice (part of math homework)
Post It Notes (for writing a quick note to the teacher!)
Sight Words flash cards

Crate & Barrel Dip Mug Love.

I love these mugs from Crate and Barrel.
I have several in different colors.

When this color came up on my screen, I gasped.
Isn't it beautiful??!

I don't need anymore, my mug cabinet is already a little crazy.
BUT!
If I had a C&B within driving distance, I would load up Frankie (right now!!) and drive there just to buy this mug.
I would leave with a smile on my face, go home, wash it and make a cup of tea.
Then I would sit and be happy with my lovely new mug.
Crazy? Maybe.
What can I say?
All their spring time colors are so pretty.
If you're lucky enough to have a Crate and Barrel around you, go check them out.

Good Intentions.

So much for good intentions, right?!
I didn't ever load up the snowmachine pictures.
Or any other pictures.
For the whole week!!

But!
I had a project!
I got rid of the rest of the unwanted red walls and brown (didn't even know it was brown!) ceiling.
***cue sigh of relaxed relief.***

We have lived in this house since 2008 and I've wanted to do this painting since then.
Now it is finally done.
And I love it.
Love. It.

People.
If you want to paint something, just do it already!
Sheesh.

Anyway.

After the bulk of the work was done and the house semi put back together, I snapped some pictures of my favorite short people in our new, bright living room.

Let me just say, Sherwin-Williams Creme, I love you.

Here they are playing doctor.
This has been the game of choice recently.
Frankie is VERY ill all the time.
He requires multiple X-rays and Nurse Grace is kept busy documenting his chart and meeting his every need.
Needs include but I promise you, are not limited to: apple juice, video games played on a broken system, Nutella toast, (but he would totally just take the jar of Nutella and a spoon) lolly pops, books read, fuzzy blankets, pillows, songs sung and of course, trains.

In other news, this is our new cat, Oscar.

(oh yeah and Mimi Moose)
He is very curious.
And VERY similar to our last cat, Georgia.
We've had him for about three weeks now.
We love him and he loves us.

That's all.
I make no promises as to when I'll post again.
ha ha.
